Many of us go around with the same old mobile operator. Not because we are super happy with our carrier but rather because we are too comfortable or afraid to make the switch.
Making the switch sounds like something very difficult and complex. It must be very difficult to change operator? Wrong!
Almost a third of the mobile operators' customers walking around dissatisfied with their current operator. Don't be one of them.
In this article, we go through 5 common misconceptions about switching mobile operators and answer them so you can feel ready to make the switch the day you're ready.
1. “I lose my phone number”
There are still many people who believe that you lose your phone number when you switch to another mobile operator. But the phone number is yours and goes with you if you choose to make a change. If you want that.
When you subscribe to a mobile phone with Refurbly Flex , you can also add a mobile subscription, and at the same time choose whether you want to keep your existing phone number or get a new one.
If you choose to keep your number, the operator will ensure that your phone number is transferred to them when the switch is made.
You usually do not need to cancel your existing subscription, it is handled by the operator as long as you have no commitment time left.
2. "When I change mobile operator, the phone stops working"
Many also believe that they will be without a working mobile phone for several days when the switch to the new mobile operator is carried out.
We understand that the mobile phone is very important, both privately and at work. Therefore, there is a simple solution in the industry that makes your mobile phone never stop working.
When you rent a used mobile phone from us with a subscription, your number is ported to your new operator automatically. You will be informed when the move is carried out and can use your old subscription until then.
When the move is complete, you put your new SIM card in the mobile phone, turn the mobile back on and voila! Your new subscription is running.
It is becoming increasingly common to do a number porting, so you are in good company.
Statistics from the Swedish Post and Telecommunications Authority shows an increase of a whopping 36% from 2019 to 2020 inclusive a total of 1,575,497 mobile numbers ported .
3. "It requires a lot of work to change mobile operators"
This may be a holdover from the good old days, when it may not have been easy to make a switch.
But today, switching mobile operators is almost as easy as making any other online purchase.
When you have chosen which of our used mobile phones you want, there are only 4 simple steps left:
- Choose operator and how much surf you want
- Fill in all your details and place the order

4. "I have to have Telia.. only they have good coverage"
A lot has happened in the world of technology in the last 5-10 years. Not least in the mobile industry. This also applies to mobile networks.
In the past, there was a lot of talk about Telia being the only choice if you wanted good coverage. But that doesn't really apply anymore.
Did you know e.g. to Telenor and Tele2 since 2017 have a network with surface coverage of 90% and a whopping 99.9% population coverage?
This means that there are at least three operators in Sweden with a very large reach. And then of course you have to choose one of them to get good coverage. Or?
Not really! The vast majority of new modern operators on the market use exactly the same network as the old established operators.
For example, our partner Verbal uses Telenor's award-winning network to be able to offer a secure and stable network. Without high monthly costs or expensive mobile phones.
5. "There probably isn't that much money to save"
Many still live in the belief that "more expensive equals better". But that has been proven wrong time and time again, and people are finally starting to see through all the expensive products and fancy marketing.
Absolutely, most operators offer good prices. But they do it by tying you up for years. You can forget about that with us.
